

Student Loan Office Pittsburgh, PA 15282 Tel: 412-396-6591 Fax: 412-396-5958 Mission Statement The mission of the University Student Loan Office is to ensure that all students are fully educated on the procedures and regulations regarding their student loans. This includes timely and accurate loan statements, the assurance of exit interviews upon graduation, and information with regards to loan repayment and loan deferrals. Prompt and courteous service is a priority given to all students. These goals are achieved through departmental teamwork, cross training and a dedication to providing exceptional customer service. Services of the Student Loan Office include: Cumulative Indebtedness: While in school, twice a year, students receive a statement containing the outstanding balance of Perkins, Nursing and Health Profession Loans. Exit Interviews : Follow the link to Duquesne's Financial Counselor. Any Student graduating or leaving the University must complete an exit interview. An exit interview defines the rights and responsibilities of each borrower. A repayment schedule for each loan will be provided at the interview. Deferments: There are many types of deferments for which students may apply. Included in these are student, forbearance and disability. To apply for deferment, please contact our office for the appropriate form. Repayment: All payments are due the first of the month. Quarterly payments will be determined by the amount borrowed, however, the minimum amount will be at least $30.00. Default of Loan: All loans that are more than 105 days delinquent are reported to the Credit Bureau. Any loan that becomes seriously delinquent is turned over to an outside collection agency or attorney. Any additional costs involved will be the borrower's responsibility.
